The Solaris Offgrid team is thrilled to announce the completion of their equity round of over 1,000,000€ investment. Such a significant amount of resources collected from a group of European private investors will support both our R&D (based in Europe) and the expansion of our operations in developing countries.
Solaris Offgrid designs and manufactures integrated and modular “pay-as-you-go” solutions to foster affordable and sustainable energy access in developing countries. Our company stands out from the competition due to the modularity of the products and services we offer to both our last-mile customers in Tanzania and to our field partners across developing countries. Such flexibility is a unique feature of the charging controller we have designed, which is upgradable from 20 to 200 watts of peak solar power, or through the possibility offered to partners to be equipped with a hardware packaging branded in their own colors and identity (white branding). Such adaptiveness can also be found on the software dimension, with the ability for our partners to benefit from the development of customized CRM features according to the specificities of their business model.
The modularity of our product and services is uncontestably one of the key reasons why the European investment community has been seduced by our value proposition as Hélène Demaegdt, President at GAIA Impact points out: “We’ve been impressed by Solaris Offgrid’s flexible mindset and focus on innovation. It has implemented a highly scalable technical & IT framework that should prove essential to tackle the competition between SHS companies. With this latest funding, we believe the company is now in a strong position from which to accelerate its growth into new areas, create long-term value for its shareholders and stakeholders, and positively impact the lives of millions affected by energy poverty”. Josep-Miquel Torregrosa, Business Creation Officer at InnoEnergy (Iberia), to add “we’re very proud of the progress Solaris Offgrid has made since joining our programme. And we’re delighted that it is continuing to go from strength-to-strength with this latest investment”.
The other main driver which led other investors such as InnoEnergy, RenoVAfrica, and Zubi Labs to invest in Solaris Offgrid is the last-mile operational expertise we built through our subsidiary Solaris Tanzania. Such operations have allowed us to offer partners with unique software and hardware design proposals, inspired directly by the experiences of our team working in deep rural areas of Tanzania. Solaris Offgrid has therefore developed a deep understanding of their partners' upcoming operational and strategic needs, which is imperative to support them beyond the technologic dimensions.
Solaris Offgrid is proud to have brought clean and safe electricity to thousands of people through its own operations and partners, across six countries, since we began operations three years ago. But that’s just the beginning. This latest round of funding will prove crucial as we work towards our ambition of providing power to 10 million people by 2022 with our partners. Solaris Offgrid is continuing to create new, modular and scalable solutions for these partners.
