Solaris Offgrid invited by EDF to present its innovative solution

Solaris Offgrid participated to the "Electric Days" organised by EDF to present its unique positioning and share its vision of the Off-grid industry.

On the 24th of January 2017, Solaris Offgrid was invited by EDF (one of the biggest energy & utility in the world) to discuss innovation challenges related to energy on the African continent during their corporate event "Electric days".

Alongside with Mr Rossi (Group Senior Executive Vice President International Division at EDF), Mr Gouyet (President of Electriciens Sans Frontières), and Mr Antignac (Managing director at Uberis Capital), Thibault Lesueur (Chief Marketing Officer at Solaris Offgrid) had the opportunity to present the value proposition of Solaris Offgrid and share our latest off-grid experiences.

From design thinking methodologies to product/software development or fundraising for access to energy start-ups/projects, many topics related to innovation have been publically debated with the participants, giving to Solaris Offgrid the opportunity to share key ideas and principles that made its success so far:

  • The only way to bring a game-changing innovation to market is to focus on the fundamental value proposition to be offered and to voluntarily get rid of the cosmetic aspects for the first few months of development;

  • Innovation can’t be reduced to a technical value proposition: the approach that surrounds the technical dimensions must be considered as importantly and can very often be the trigger to success;

  • A frugal environment is often the mother of creativity: innovating according to lean principles allow to validate the innovation’s core as fast as possible prior to further investment. It also creates great conditions for finding ways to maximise the social value created out of every euro invested.
