How can Mobile Money services improve access to essential services?

1.2 billion people in the world are still lacking affordable and safe access to electricity. While Pay-as-you-go businesses have provided critical solutions for the Bottom-of-the-Pyramid, basic access to financial services in the most remote areas remains one of the biggest challenges to improve utilities access.

Telcos have helped significantly disrupt the energy & utility industry over the past few years. In particular, the advent of mobile money really help to foster new models and new possibilities for those businesses and help the spread of Paygo. Paygo providers themselves are driving mobile money penetration and usage, often pushing rural dwellers who didn't have access to finance before, to actually adopt the technology and use it for Paygo services.

To build a better understanding of how Paygo providers and Telcos/SMS integrators interact with one another in the deployment of Paygo solutions, we are proposing a list of interesting resources on the subject:

Don’t forget to watch #SolarisFieldStories Ep9, demystifying Telco integration main challenges through the testimonials of LAfricaMobile, Oolu and Solaris Offgrid.
